Saved a 12 year old boys life yesterday

Since I'm a coach and teacher, it was only a matter of time before I would be involved in a life or death scenario involving a child. I have kids in my class currently with all kinds of health issues, so some of them are ticking time bombs.

Long story short junior high soccer games were at my high school, so I go to watch them play so I can see who my incoming freshman are.

Suddenly, behind the bleachers away from the field one of the 7th grade kids has a horrible seizure. Other kids run screaming and see me first and start telling me something's wrong with a kid. I ran over and saw him laying on his back with stuff coming out his mouth. Since I had no idea what happened to him I had to scream to kids to ask what happened but they simply said he fell over. After I got to him, he couldn't breathe and he was choking on his own saliva and vomit. So I quickly turned him on his side and tried opening up his jaw to let some of the saliva come out, but I kid you not the kid looked dead and the amount of air he was getting was so low I thought he was about to die. He would vomit uncontrollably a couple of times after I was there. After screaming for a parent to call 911 a mother came running who was a nurse, and we both had to hold him while he basically laid there unconsciously choking. His eyes were wide open, but he wasn't there. I was never scared or panicked, but I honestly thought we were going to lose him. Without going into too many more details the paramedics finally showed up, we had to hold him down because he was having another seizure, they had to put an IV in him and take him to the hospital and a lot of other things.

So, this isn't me bragging or looking for kudos, but I bet some of you have been in some scary scenerios or other worst things, but when your holding a 12 year old kid who looks like he is dying in your arms it gets to you. Heard today he made it, but they have no idea what caused it and he has never had a seizure so I'm afraid it might be something bad.

The worst part about the entire thing was actually other parents and an administrator. I was holding his head and body to the side, and suddenly they run up asking what's going on. I don't know this kids name (hes in junior high and Im the high school coach) and I am not sure what had happened still I was just saving his life, and they all start yelling and screaming at kids like "where is his bag" "where is his phone" "how do you not where his bag and phone is" and I almost yelled at them to shut up because it doesn't f**k matter where his stuff is we simply need 911 and to keep the scene safe. They all start yelling at other junior high kids next to me and it made the scene chaotic, they basically started panicking. I kept my cool the entire time trying to talk to the nurse and they wouldn't shut up.

Probably he was concussed from header practice. We need helmets in soccer to protect our future.

Good on you fstar, staying cool in a tough situation is something to be proud of.

When I was a kid I had a neighbor who would have epileptic seizures occasionally, and I witnessed a couple. Really frightening. My son had a few febrile seizures due to high fever (not necessarily dangerous unless they last a long time), but the first time it happened I was the one who found my son totally non-responsive and staring into space. That was some scary shit for a parent because I had no idea what was going on.

That's scary. At first I was trying to talk to him and tell him he was ok and help was on the way because his eyes were open but weren't moving. I really wonder if he could tell if anything was going on or if he was literally completely out. He regained consciousness but part of me thinks at the beginning you know whats happening.
