This result has made me angry and fearful more than any other. The Tories are now free of any Lib Dem balance.
What the past 5 years has taught us is that as long as you keep the core Tory voters free from the effects of austerity, you can do what you want to everyone else, and they will vote you back in. And we already see this in action: £12bn of welfare cuts to come, but pensioners (core Tory voters) will get an increase in their state pension.
A bleak day, not just for the poor and disabled, but for workers in general.

we judge how good an economy is by raw unemployment numbers and the stock market. those rarely translate to how good the QOL is in a particular region. on top of that, the tories have been very selective in who is hit by austerity. hint: it's not tory voters.
