Could Sen. Bernie Sanders Become President?

PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Calling income inequality "the great moral issue of our time," Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders urged a boisterous crowd of thousands in Maine on Monday to help him transform America by restoring a thriving middle class.

I would still like to think nobody ever votes based off television ads, that people that vote are really well informed on the issues, but I know that is far from true. Aren't you tired of electing people who are so interested in their own propaganda, that forget about our citizens? He is right about one thing- big money dominates our political scene. They flooded our country with people who don't care about our values.

Anything is possible. My gut tells me he's too far from the center to survive the general election. He's a self described socialist, and that in itself is enough to blow him out of the water among most voters when they start playing it in TV spots and throwing his quotes in his face. The reality is that for most Americans, the word "socialist" is still interchangeable with "communist" or even "Nazi". The people are too stupid for Sanders.

Plus, he's got all the charisma of a turnip. Clinton hasn't even started yet.

I'd love a principled sort in office. But he'd have to get through the GOP's guy. And the GOP absolutely feasts on the blood of principled people.

I gave him some money. Feels strange that I'd be supporting a socialist but the complete lack of action in the wake of the '08 crash makes me believe something drastic needs to happen. He's also significantly less authoritarian than his main-rival, which is real important to me.


I'll probably give some money to Rand Paul too (less than I gave Bernie).

If Bernie Sanders were at a point where the election could be won, he would either be killed, or have his life destroyed through private machinations. There is simply no way a man of his principles would be allowed to serve as President.

Bernie's probably my favorite guy in DC right now along with Elizabeth Warren.

He will never win because the binary MSM media will never portray him as anything but a "fringe" candidate who of course is a "socialist" (EEEK!) and they'll constantly mock his lack of polish as they fellate blow-dried and shellacked mannequins like Mitt Romney or well-polished yet still laughable weasels like Ted Cruz.

Remember, our electoral narrative is always the same: good vs. evil, like the WWE. That means TWO characters, there's no room for a third. So if that means Hillary vs. Jeb, then there you have it.

Bernie will be subject to death by a thousand cuts, not unlike what happened to Ron Paul. Nobody in the media cares if he's RIGHT--is he somebody you can wager on to WIN, dammit? Let's go to our CNN expert panel...

Indie...sanders isn't a "socialist". He is an actual, self-described socialist. The real deal. At least much as anyone who makes it into office in this country can be.

Yes, but the point is that the "socialist" policies he champions were those in place when our country was at its most prosperous.

It's interesting to me that "socialism" has become a dirty word on the level of "jihadism" while "plutocracy" is actively celebrated and promoted as "conservatism."

You wave the word "socialist" in front of the tea partiers and the FOX viewers and they see no difference between that and "communist."
