i don't think takedown is half the diss back 2 back is but then again i hate jay z so i'm biased. plus meek started this whole thing and he's been styled on twice and hasn't said anything about it. if drake started it then taking his time would be fine but you can't start beef, clam up, get haymakered twice, and then in a few weeks release a track. the bar for coming back from that is pretty damn high.

I wasn't even aware of anything but blues clues and legos when this was going on so all I have as a frame of reference is hearing it years later. And with ether being the better(and winning)song from a rapper I like I dont see it as that weird that I don't like takeover very much. Maybe you're just being a fence rider.

Well I'm giving you the context for the time: between when Jay-Z put out the takeover and when Nas put out ether everyone thought Nas' career was over, and he's f**k Nas. That should be a good indication of how good a diss it was considered.

Nas was a washed up loser who got outshined by his own body guard trying to be a pimp with his failure of a brother's rap group. To understand the comparison you have to understand Nas was not especially well regarded at the time. It's easy to look back now and say "oh yeah he's Nas of course he had a good retort." No one was expecting it at the time.
