GOP Primary Debate 8/6/15

Kasich did well.

Trump was a side show, but didn't completely implode like I expected him too.

Walker was boring.

Cruz was phony.

Rubio was so-so.

Huckabee was insane, but had a good zinger at the end.

Carson was boring, but if he could have conducted himself like he did when gave his neurosurgeon analogy about race, and his closing statement he would have done better.

Cristie was like "raw raw raw 9/11"

Bush was reserved, but did ok on education and immigration.

Rand Paul didn't suck, but he could have done better. I think the back and forth with Cristie highlights a growing schism in the party. Seems like Christie bested him.

We should just rebrand the forum at this point. This place sucks at discussing politics.

I clicked it off and watched The Wrecking Crew (great doc btw) about the time they were wrapping up their foreign policy nonsense. I came away feeling that I most likely won't vote in the next election.

My personal analysis is as follows: Kasich came across as the one guy who appeared somewhat reasonable and self aware on that stage. I had very little knowledge of him prior, so maybe he's got warts I'm not familiar with. Trump was Tump, but there appeared to be a stretch where fox kind of went after him, but it tapered off. His comments concerning turning republican, giving Hilary money, and filing bankruptcy were some of his standout moments. I don't think he lost ground like I half expected.

The rest of the field ranged from barely there, to just embarrassing. Jeb really doesn't seem that interested or took a muscle relaxer he split with Carson.

And now that I think about it...Kasich might have just locked himself into VP. A Heb/Kasich ticket would be pretty strong and could actually pull them FL/OH which is absolutely necessary for the reptiles to stand a chance.
