the crescendo was pretty satisfying in its own way. still, what i wanted was like, true detective work. not like, rogue policemen working with some mob boss on a quest for revenge. at least we do end up learning who killed the guy in episode 1, and why, but i guess i am looking more for a miniseries of law and order on one case. perhaps a serial killer, over years, like they did with last season.
yeah there were some western themes but i don't think it was a western exploited. westerns center on the wanderer, who is a knight in a world of lawlessness. and there's a showdown at high noon but its done honorably, not like, firing tear gas until they cant see then shooting them. vince vaughn's character is close to this but i don't really think he is. while he helps others he in it for himself and taking all the monies, among other things. this season it's greek drama. odephius, antigone, the whole lot showed up this season. and the greeks loved metis, strategy. romans hated strategy, thought it trickery, and embraced strength of arms over all. aurthorian knights and ronin also thought this way. and the western comes from that stuff, not the ambigousness and tricksey and falseness of the greeks
still there was much to be disappointed in this season. would i say it's worth the watch? no. it wasn't horrible but i wouldn't recommend it. i will say they did tie it all up nicely at least; they didn't throw out plot points and then drop them
