Toronto is irreparably damaged simply because it is toronto. I would cheer their separation.
There is a housing bubble and it will be corrected. But it's nothing like the us housing bubble. The banks are different. no less corrupt and no less greedy.
What is going to happen to the rest of the world will happen to canada. it may be somewhat insulated, as canada did join the aiib. only the us and columbia did not join. But with 75% of all canada's economic acitivty concentrated in the us, and an irrevocable dependence and alliance, and with resource and every nature of demand declining world wide, there will be no shortage of f**k edness world wide. And when the world declines, canada will look to the us for even more economic opportunities.
funny thing is, if you drive in any populated area, over .5 million here, there are help wanted signs everywhere. even with ontario being so buried in debt and government stupidity, corruption and waste. employers are begging for workers. maybe not for much longer, but for now, there's lots of jobs.
