He's a secular humanist believing in the science of morality. He pretends to be a Christian for political purposes as it helps appeal to the religious left base without pissing off the non-religious base.

The idea that there is any room for the concept "secret muslim" within the realm of what is considered rational political thought pretty much says it all about our backward and ignorant society. McCarthyism is pretty much par for the course.
