nasa hitting it out of the park this year
i wish the average american didn't think we spent a quarter of our national budget on nasa http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/badas ... gmf_MtVhBc
we spend a pittance on nasa. it's something truly worthwhile. it brings great presitge and knowledge to our country. and yes, i am also very much in support of private efforts, but nasa is on the bleeding edge of all of these things. nasa went to the moon 50 years ago. their computer in huston took 4 people to operate a room sized machine with 2 megabytes of memory and they went to the goddamn moon. private enterprise will finally catch up soon, and hopefully there won't be such a lag getting to mars. if these types of things can get people hype about space, maybe we can increase the nasa budget and get a man on mars when they are planning. and then soon thereafter the spacex trading company will set up outposts and the whole damn thing will be opened up. people alive today could give birth on the moon and mars. it's stunning to think about
