update on oregon shooter: "The official also said the mother of 26-year-old gunman Christopher Harper-Mercer has told investigators he was struggling with some mental health issues. "

i don't understand cons point on this. how do they envision focusing on mental health resulting in a reduction in shootings? have they made a coherent argument for this?

Why not? Remove the guns and the mentally ill won't have access.
Cons say "let's focus on mental illness" because they don't want to focus on guns. But the reality is they have no serious plan to actually do anything about the mentally ill getting access to firearms.
