What do you expect the former staffer who worked on the early stages of the committee and then got fired to say? "I'm a total hack who was pursuing a partisan agenda and then got fired"? He's of course going to claim they were doing good work while he was still there. Having followed politics for quite some time, these guys who come forward with a juicy story after getting fired should be taken with a big grain of salt when it comes to their own role in things and explanations of how and when things took a bad turn. Most of the time they want to sell a book in which they play the role of the hero.

Yeah so this thing about "always being right" where you and phos just refuse to address counterpoints and repeat that you're right over and over. That's not "being right". That's called circle-jerking, and it's all you're doing.

I actually disagree slightly with Philly and think that he probably honestly thought there goal was fact finding at the beginning. However, what he might not be considering is that there had been 6 investigations into this beforehand none of which found any of the dramatic headlines the GOP was searching for. Regardless, this committee was established to keep benghazi in the headlines and go after Clinton. They found a more specific target when the emails came along and now they've shifted focus almost entirely to that (a good NYT article that ran recently shows how the committee now focuses entirely on the emails and has basically dropped benghazi almost entirely).

The Clintons are rich enough to beat any committee or to buy any judge.
The only solution is to forget about the Benghazi case and find other arguments to discredit her!

The Republican party really is broken. Ryan is now being attacked for being too liberal.

And the funny thing is, "liberal" has lost all meaning from what it used to be.

"Liberal" simply means not joining their nihilist jihad against... "liberals." When an Ayn Rand fetishist and super-plutocrat like Paul Ryan is too "liberal," we're in cray-cray land.

These people would rather burn down the country than not have it run their way--and that means 100% their way, no compromises, no negotiations.

I know I say it all the time, but I will never get how the GOP didn't reboot after Romney lost--seeing that his pandering to the 1% and the lunatics cost him the election with moderate voters and ESPECIALLY the Latinos. Since then they've not only doubled-down on alienating Latinos, they've gone ALL IN as Trump has made bashing them the centerpiece of his campaign.

But I'm thinking like the GOP is a vertical organization being led from the top. The best comments I've heard I read this past week where somebody said there is no coherent GOP structure right now, because all these congresspeople basically set up their own fundraising as they are not dependent anymore on the Party for financial support. Therefore they have no obligation to literally follow the Party line and fear no consequences, as you saw with them chasing Boehner out and then demanding that the next speaker basically be their sock puppet.

That, and you've got a whole generation of people who've come to Congress literally the break and undo stuff, and "stop" Obama, Because Liberals. The only ones they're accountable to are the yahoos back home and their donors.

You wouldn't hire people like this for your business, because you'd be out of business. But we're electing them to run the country. Er, sorry--a ton of them are elected for reasons having nothing to do with running the country, but rather because they're going to fight The Left.
