Well, I understand why he was nervous at the point where he shot the kid, but the situation was entirely of his own creation so I would give him less leeway since he manufactured a hostile situation. Kid was definitely being dumb too but the cop had no reason to even pull him over. The kid had done nothing wrong so if he wanted to brag about his brand new car just do that and send him on his way.

Well if he did flash his high beams the cop can pull him over for that right?

but he probably didn't need to escalate the situation. to play devil's advocate though, i would assume if somebody didn't want to provide ID that they have an outstanding warrant or something. might've been the thought process here? who knows.

I've never heard of getting pulled over for flashing beams at a cop. The courts have ruled they can't pull you over if they witness you flashing someone else. And it's just considered common courtesy to flash beams at someone who is driving around with their brights on, and he knew that's what this kid honestly thought since he explained his headlights are very bright. The whole thing reeks of a cop going out looking for trouble. Or I should say, looking to create trouble.
