True, it's not everyone by any stretch. And some figures (the oft-repeated 99% consensus, for example) are grossly inflated by the media. But there is a significant consensus that, IMO, shouldn't disregarded.

I hope there can be a more honest efforts by both sides in this debate. But that probably won't happen since the two groups seem deeply entrenched (see, for example, your posts in this thread).

To me its not a matter of complicated computer models and whatever definition of consensus. Its simple common sense.

To believe that humanity has no effect on the environment is to believe in magic. Because, logically, there is just no way to reconcile a given amount of action without its corresponding value of reaction.

We've got a tremendous drop in ocean pH, which makes perfect sense when one considers the increased volume of carbonic acid present in the water due to the oceans having been soaking up half of our carbon emissions. Eventually, the water will no longer be chemically capable of serving as this kind of carbon sink, and the atmospheric carbon will be forced to remain atmospheric...which will be reflected in a massive uptick in readings.

I wonder what reasons we'll come up with to explain that one, when it it inevitably happens.

Anyone trying to pretend actions have no reactions is irrational. If they use words like "religion" "alarmists" "liberals" "hoax" etc etc...then they almost certainly are ideologues that are completely immune to the application of reason or common sense.

There is so much CO2 in earth dwarfing ocean born source. Look up what would happen if an epoch soil disbursement would happen. I can't live in fear now. i think many won't me to. Again, what have you done to disrupt you and your family's carbon foot print? I can't get a progressive on this board to answer my question. Because the answer is , "I fueled my car today and don't care other than to pretend I give a shit".

Edit: by meaning in the earth I mean soil. Look up the carbon dioxide stored in soil.

Not personal friend. You'll live and grow old watching your balls grow nearer the earth as your ecologist friends die off in numbers. You'll be spreading berry jam on your toast long after your wife is gone and your kids promise a weekend visit. Your doomsday mind doesn't believe it but it will come true. Why would that be bad news for those who believe in climate change ? It's not like we want climate change to be happening, we simply realize that the evidence proves, that it is. I'd love for there to be no climate change, that would be fantastic, as are any natural phenomena that slow down the effects. But I am smart enough to realize, that just because I want something to be true, that doesn't mean it is.
