When I see videos like this, I can only imagine that these students have learned that administration will not handle discipline properly. This kind of thing doesn't usually happen from one day to the next. It's a culture of the school that lends itself to this sort of thing.
Yep.
Had a buddy teaching at one of the rougher, inner-city schools in my district. One day, he's on his planning period walking down the hall and hears a classroom being pretty loud. He walks by, noticed there was a sub in there, so he pops his head in asking if everything was okay. One of the students said, "f**k you man, you're not our teacher." So, buddy removes this kid, they go to administration's office, and assistant principal sends the kid back to class because, and I quote, "If he's not in class, he cannot be learning." So five minutes later, kid is back in class. All the other kids in that class learned that day that it's okay to tell a teacher to go f**k himself, and there will be no consequences. I told him I would have put in my 30 day notice at that very moment. And then we act surprised that that school was chaotic and nobody wanted to work there. The inmates CANNOT run the asylum.
Exactly. When I taught school, I told administration that if I sent a student to the office, that they would not be allowed in class on that day.
