the main problem with a kurdish state is that it is opposed by turkey, since they don't want their kurds rebelling. but having nation-state of kurdistan would stabilize (to an extent) all the nations in that area (once the kurds of turkey declared for kurdistan and were granted their independence), since their independence could be guaranteed by larger powers
in addition to not half assing it, goals should be laid out, and i think the creation of a kurdish state should be a goal. the only reason syria exists as it does is because of french and english mandates. i think that turkey, who committed the genocide in armenia (from which the term was coined) should not be able to dictate here. if we were to lay that out, perhaps we could work with syrian nationals so long as they agree to that term, and put an end to ISIS with their help.
