None of this makes Into Darkness the worst Star Trek ever (a spaceship in water is the least of our worries).
Besides, Star Trek is a show where ship captains go on missions and a universe that uses a standard video cam to communicate with each other before battle. Meanwhile, the entire universe speaks English apparently.

Oh bullshit. Don't give me this crap of "Oh it's been explained." You deliberately said you can't do any hand-wavy Jedi tricks and that "Trek is science and logical consistency." A universal translator is a pipe dream and workaround for Hollywood so they don't waste time attempting to translate.

not really. we already have devices that do an okay job at it. give it a few centuries and it'll be almost instantaneous.
plus the point spider was making was that everything is based in its own internal logic. no one is claiming star trek is realistic. it's called treknobabble for a reason. but it has it's own internal logic based on science and engineering.
