what is "fluff" defined as?
episode 503 was the start of Worf and Jadiza's relationship. they got married later. her death impacted him deeply. how is that fluff? or is it because it's a futuristic interpretation of cyrano de bergerac that makes it fluffy?
504 deals with jake, and everyone hates jake. but it's still not fluff. in this episode, jake is some typically lefty anti-war journalist but gets in the shit himself. his balls drop and he actually grabs a phaser, and, while he can't shoot for shit, he manages to save everyone. then he has to struggle with the reporting, where people are calling him a hero, and he has to grapple with whether its better to tell the truth about something or talk himself up. yeah, okay, this doesn't really directly progress the main story line. is that what "fluff" is? is every episode of TNG except for the first and last fluff? this episode was directly about consequences for a character that you, like everyone, probably hated, as he was trying to grow up and dealing with issues that people deal with every day
