Like ULTRA in WWII, when you have an intelligence source like that, one of the most important considerations is to not reveal that you have it. To act on such information would be very carefully considered, and anything the Chinese did would be obscured as much as possible, with multiple avenues setup that the information "could" have come from. They wouldn't want to throw away that source unless it was for an incredibly important reason that impacted their national security.
