Banking is essentially organized crime right now, where they figure out every possible way to screw citizens and if they get caught, they pay a fine and admit no wrongdoing and nobody goes to jail.
But they also bought off the gov't long ago so it shouldn't be any surprise. We live in a country where we openly allow loan sharks to prey on the poor and especially military members, and where banks committed epic fraud which led to the destruction of millions of jobs, the loss of thousands of homes and staggered our economy in a way that Al Qaeda could only dream of. And nobody was even indicted, much less jailed.
Why do we allow it? Because deep down inside we believe rich people are better than us. We believe that if we just keep plugging away, one day we'll be among them, not lorded over by them. Although there is hope that maybe millenials don't share that fawning boot-licking, in that they are digging Bernie's Wall St. message and his talk about income disparity.
Our generations, though? We simply bent over and surrendered.
