Actually they are probably fine on felony murder. Doesn't apply if it's one of the criminals in Oregon it appears.

Regardless, these hillbilly yokels played with fire and got burned. They all have blood on their hands. Pathetic. They should be ashamed and I would imagine at least some of them are in a jail cell feeling the true gravity and responsibility of their actions.

Also, if the cops were intent on executing rednecks they would've gone all in. Why leave witnesses? Their fabricated stories make no sense. Further shame and dishonorable behavior. "Patriots" my ass.

Edit: and the reality is these guys are misguided, not especially intelligent, and treasonous (though unintentionally so, and I cannot fault them for being stupid): but they aren't evil. The deceased, for example, apparently fostered 50+ children with his wife. In all likelihood he was genuinely benevolent and had best intentions. And now he's dead and his family and friends have somebody to mourn.

Apparently this all went down on 395 between Burns and John Day. No cell service out there in that big expanse of nothing. Smart. Finicum repeatedly said that he'd rather die than get locked up. Time came to make that choice and it sounds that he did exactly as he said he would. Gotta hand it to him for that at least: Not a bullshitter.
