Also, I don't understand the difference in outcome between selective breeding to enhance certain traits and genetic modification to achieve those same traits.
(When I say difference in outcome, I mean the final product. Years ago, you'd have to selectively breed multiple generations of organisms to enhance some recessive gene, until that recessive gene became dominant and was the only one left. Only then would you have a plant that resisted a certain aphid, or a fruit a certain color, or a turkey with certain breast mass. With current genetic modification, we can isolate those genes in the parents and immediately pass on those genes to the offspring, without having to wait for generations to mature and reproduce.)
