Yeah my exact analysis. The weakest scenes were those in the cave. Everything else was really outstanding. Kurt Russel's character should be a western classic

lots of little gems like that. backup deputy was kinda the man. Richard Jenkins is a really phenomenal actor. He does a decent number of semi-under the radar films that are really quite good. The Visitor is another good example.
