I find your obvious disdain for American tourists to Mexico to be tremendously condescending and elitist, Indy. Tourism accounts for nearly 10% of Mexico's GDP. Without Americans visiting places like Cancun, and spending their hard-earned dollars there, Mexico would be in even worse condition. And what about the value of policies like NAFTA... which I'm certain you opposed, because you didn't want Mexicans taking good-paying American manufacturing jobs. How much does that contribute to their economy?
Perhaps instead of insulting the lower and middle classes, who just want to experience something a little different without being totally uncomfortable, perhaps you should express some gratitude, instead of acting like some high-roller that is above the fray. Who "gets" the "true" Mexican experience, as if the Mexicans who work on resorts aren't "true Mexicans" doing "Mexican things."
