Libertarians can be force going forward...if they maintain their socially liberal fiscally conservative stance. If they shift hard right (as they seem to be wont to do) they do nothing but fracture the Republican vote. Anything that leaves the Democrats too powerful is every bit as scary as the reverse.

The Republican party is already fractured imho. After this election fails, they're going to have to shift to be more moderate. That or we're going to have a civil war on our hands in the very near future. They've shifted so far right in the past 2 decades, the GOP really isn't even the GOP any more.

Irrelevant. After this election, the Libertarian Party will die once again. This is just what happens when both parties put up terrible candidates.
