All punishment is irrevocable. Spending a night in jail is irrevocable. Complaints about hour a punishment is irrevocable are worthless.
In the end your problem is with the idea of guilt beyond a reasonable doubt not being good enough. If you had any bit of consistency you would also state that all punishments should only be meted out against the actual guilty, because that's why you are against the death penalty.
I accept that guilt beyond a reasonable doubt is not for sure guilty in the sense of that they in truth did it. But i must have confidence in that it else the entire justice system is worthless. I know lawyers suck but I wouldn't just claim they are all so incompetent that guilt beyond a reasonable doubt isn't a good enough standard
