youre ignoring that was trump too though. he was a screen for his supporters to project policy onto. other than the wall and 'GINA he didn't have shit going into the general. his early supporters wrapped themselves in knots trying to justify positions on things he never talked about.

no this was a repudiation of realism. hillary was selling reality. coal is dead, industry is not coming back, we need to prepare for this and move forward in a way that works for everyone. we're post-fact now. so if by no vision you mean no platitudes, then yeah, hillary under-performed in the "completely lie about everything" category. which goes back to how stupid these rust belt whites are. telling them reality, and what realistically can be done, is unacceptable.

You're right, Trump was incoherent, but it's a question of what he represented. I have no doubt he's a craven power hungry dope, and there's a strong possibility he wont go full Joker and it will be a more conventional administration, because he actually has shit to lose.

But Hillary didn't have the same knack for articulating people's hopes and fears. Trump did even if he did it in a horribly destructive direction, and that's why we are now referring to Trumpism, because it doesn't fit our existing taxonomy of politics.

You should have been a Clinton strategist, because what you're saying, while post hoc, about realism, etc is far more convincing than anything the Clinton camp put forth. Again, politics is not just the administration of things, there have to be ideas.

Trump has 2 years before he loses control of congress. In that time its entirely possible he sends the entire rust belt hurtling back through time to the 1950's and magically transmutes all these fat asses into competent old school auto laborers with actual skills as opposed to babysitting of robots.

Its totally possible. It doesn't matter that the entire supply chain is overseas now. That we literally don't even make the nuts, bolts, springs, and wires we'd used to fasten this shit together anymore. That we'd have serious trouble even figuring out how to cheaply manufacture a machine screw on that scale.
