There is truly something deeply unsettling about this, my friends (not very political and republican mostly because they think it just means less gubmint) are acting nonchalant about the outcome. As if this truly is just a bunch of liberals whining that they lost. They don't seem to grasp the greater significance of Trump. They presume it'll be a normal Republican Presidency. They don't understand what his policies could do should be proceed to implement them.

It's baffling. Are we really Rome? Is this the beginning of the end?

While I believe that most of this list won't come to fruition, there is one item which I believe will happen, and will greatly benefit me. Lifting of barriers to energy production. If he truly will allow more drilling, refinement, etc., that's a great thing for my local economy.

The main thing that I'd like to see happen is that Louisiana (and other oil-producing states) gets 100% of the royalties paid on oil and gas gathered off their shore (not just up to 3 miles offshore). Furthermore, if that oil and gas is refined within a state, that state collects all of the taxes and royalties levied upon those products.

No way I can find it now (it was 10+ years ago that I saw it), but I remember a study floating around when I was a lobbyist that said if these things happened, Louisiana would have the 2nd- or 3rd- largest state economies, after California and perhaps Texas.
