i went on the Iowa last year in LA. was great, and really took me back. i rode on Mighty Mo (her sister ship; the Iowa was supposed to get the japanese instrument of surrender, and would have had FDR survived, but Truman was a Missouri boy) from Pearl Harbor to Long Beach and got to fire machine guns and grenade launchers and watch the 16inchers fire when i was 10 years old right before she was retired (one of the times she was retired but i am not sure if was the last retirement)
