In any case, Vinnie, you are flailing about rather poorly right now. State-sanctioned marriage is not required to create a stable family environment, and your derogatory insistence that it does is an insult to single mothers, single fathers and committed unmarried people everywhere.

Not only that, but the smug assertion that I don't "like" marriage is extremely annoying. I am happily married and do not require government approval to deprive pleasure and meaning from that relationship.

Now, address the numerous points you've ignored in favour of addressing isolated paragraphs, or don't bother.

this thread is about depriving gays of "rights", namely, the "right" to marriage. several of us are taking issue with the underlying assumption that there are any rights to deprive. it's on topic

further you want to see things in black and white without any nuance, and label people this or that and conflate their arguments with other people who aren't even participating

exploited is happily married but he doesn't see state-sanctioned marriage as a right, nor thinks the state should be approving marriages. how is this inconsistent with anything? do you only participate in things that are "rights"? how is that hypocritical? i know every liberal edges at the thought of calling someone a hypocrite but, how?
