I had a family member post on social media they were signing a petition to never post fake news. Next day, this person posted a breaking news motherjones.com article stating the chinese sunk one of our cruisers (when they actually took one of our drones).

Ya know, the idea of fake news has been on the aisles of grocery stores for years, I bet the people who bought/read those are the ones clicking this stuff. I still remember sitting in line and there was a national enquirer article that stated "OBAMA IS GAY. MICHELLE SHOCKED" and this elderly woman looked at it and said "oh my god, Obama's gay" and then went on to check out. Maybe half of these fake news people are just old and don't understand what is or isn't real.

Alot of it is generational... But both old and young. Older generations never really understood the internet and they didn't really know how to learn it. The flip side is that kids who are growing up always having the internet are just as unprepared, because society hasn't quite gotten around to teaching people how to use it appropriately.

The truly lucky ones are those that grew up on the internet, but experienced it fully in its heyday, when there were no rules and no major companies and no real control. It taught lessons quickly and those lessons were valuable.
