I suspect it does since that sector has high profit margins generally but sometimes you see bullshit articles that don't smooth out for write offs or one time.events (there's a lot of M&A in pharmaceuticals which can inflate stats for a particular financial period).

Pharm.js a tricky area to regulate since you need just the right set of incentives to encourage risky investing in innovation but need to make the final product - which is inelastic and thus susceptible to price gouging - affordable. I'd hate to see dems get their hands on it as they'd probably f**k up the incentiving innovation part, but Republicans will f**k up the affordable part. The only thing we can say for sure is not much will change in the near future.

I see big pharma like big oil. Oh yea, they make profits, but does anyone know how much it costs to run one of these companies? The cost of punching a new hole in the gulf of Mexico can exceed a MILLION DOLLARS A DAY. It might take 6 months to get this hole punched, due to weather and other issues. So making 2 Billion in profit sounds like alot until you realize that they spent 180 million dollars for one hole in the ground that could wind up being a dry hole. Nobody cries when oil companies lose hundreds of millions but they sure cry if they make it.
