The issue is that the question he was asked was extremely clear, and he denied meeting with any Russians, while under oath. That is categorically false - he did meet with Russians, and he was, as far as I can tell, the only one on that committee to do so. Twenty other members of the committee have denied meeting with the Russian Ambassador, nor have they been able to provide a convincing rationale for why it would be necessary.
