i think it's a bit premature to demand his head.
franken's question matters so what he exactly asked is important here. session's response was a fumbling search for words to say, and he made a joke that he himself was said by some to be with the trump campaign. i don't know that i would necessarily describe what he said was "perjury"; he wasn't asked the question directly at all
that said, i do believe he has to step aside of all investigations on the matter now, because we don't know in what capacity he did meet with the russian ambassador about; an investigation would shed some light on it AND if there is impropriety he must be removed from office. but before that he might be forced to resign because trump would probably want someone who didn't have to do that
