exploited, as i noted, this is a pressing concern but i think the worst part isn't the isolationist republicans. as noted in my previous post, it's more likely for a Democratic voter to support abandoning our allies to Russian invasion than a Republican would. In fact, it's more likely that a Democratic voter would support abandoning our allies, period, as under half support honoring commitments to NATO. (the pew poll said " Nearly seven-in-ten Republicans (69%), but only 47% of Democrats, supported using force to aid a NATO ally attacked by Russia.") but you are right that the isolationism is increasing with Republicans, especially with the commander in chief.
it's an old strain of conservatism. we had a few world wars and the cold war that showcased how the US could be a stabilizing force in the world, especially in the belly of the beast known as europe. we shouldn't leave europe on its own. NA and Europe are culturally tied together and we should stick together. if the US is removed from the equation there will be blood, buckets of it: canada can't keep the peace on her own and we all know europeans can't be trusted. i know, it sucks dealing with people who never put on big boy pants but we have to do it; we'll get drawn into their squabbles anyway at some point. like i said, if the US leaves ramstien, we will see europe in flames soon thereafter
