What a disgusting example of historical revisionism. Americans have no shame when it comes to defending the falsehoods that define their national mythos. The Crown had absolute sovereignty over both his subjects and his overseas territories, and allowed these colonists an incredible amount of freedom and leeway in their affairs. It is flatly false to say "that was not the sovereigns land to grand and the sovereign had no political authority over the new land to delegate." It simply isn't true, has never been true, and will never be true.

Knowing these things, your third paragraph is just a lengthier revision of Comrades contributions, which are stupid and pointless. These were British subjects living in colonies established either directly by the Crown or by charter given by the Crown. They owed their loyalty to the Crown... alas, treason, disloyalty and dishonour is a fundamental part of the American national character. Disgusting.

By 1763, nearly all colonies had become Royal Colonies, and prior to that, most had become proprietary colonies. You can't change history gentlemen.

Beyond that, British subjects in Canada have always been more free than Americans. We remain more free to this day. You mistake freedom for treason.
