But renewable energy will literally be the next oil industry, TRILLIONS in value is just waiting to be captured and Trump has symbolically and practically ceded the high ground to communist f**k China. Then in a decade we will be bitching about unfair chinese trade practices because they heavily subsidize this industry...no f**k shit, we could have done the same and literally walked away from the table! Look at the gigafactory that Musk is building...China is pumping out 10 of those bitches, all heavily subsidized by SOE's. Our private sector simply cannot compete, particularly now that many of these industries have shifted away from the innovative stages of development into the scaleable stage. We have the tech, we know it works, we just need to scale and capture markets...and trump just shot us in both kneecaps right as the race is beginning. This is a f**k DISASTER for American industry and business. In 50 years, the next Exxon Mobile will be a f**k Chinese renewable company, not an American one.

Apparently Trump is getting pretty fat. We should send him for a jog around Beijing each morning. If it doesn't f**k kill him I guarantee he won't continue to deny the damage we are doing to the earth and the environment.

Sitting here watching the press briefing. EPA chief says we're going to export "clean coal" technology to the world. So all this other stuff is just useless.

Yeah, I think there are alot of people out there who don't realize the true impact of this decision. What incentive does the world have to include the US in green energy and climate change planning, when we can't even rely on you to uphold a simple "agreement in principle?" That is the thing that the Incest Twins can't understand. You just ceded your leadership position in addressing the single most important international issue today... to China. They are going to utterly dominate these markets, and their soft power is going to increase enormously. And for what? Being able to tear up an agreement that didn't actually require you to do anything?

To anyone that tries to retort the byline that US companies, states, cities, etc will continue investment making the argument against moot - the Federal government can make policies whole. It can direct the entire country to achieve a certain goal with a broad outline. By dropping that altogether you create disparate parts of the country working towards one goal with others seemingly willing to counter/undercut competitors in search of that goal. It fractures the country. A classic case in point would be the coal industry - Trump sided with smaller coal mining groups over the objections of the larger ones. The smaller ones likely want more and are probably positioned worse to weather the continuing storm against coal. You now have a situation where market forces - without guidance of the federal government - will result in more CO2 emissions as they compete with one another for market share while sharing less of any regulatory burden as Trump either rolls them back or keeps them constant as they rise elsewhere in the world.

It's just going to create a dynamic that tragically reinforces itself.

Though I suppose the international reaction to such a market driven response would be to impose tariffs on said companies would quick result in their demise quicker than it otherwise would've been.

Not all bad - though it does basically mean that the sector has no chance to gradually shift towards a more "climate change" oriented design. They would just cease to be. And we would not be competitive globally.
