It's not really a hard thought process to follow. I'm certain you can do it if you put your thinking cap on.
If you apply for asylum legally, you aren't separated. You are put on parole, unless there are serious criminal allegations against you. That is official policy and has been for at least a decade.
If you are forbidden from applying, which is illegal, and then jump the border, a misdemeanor, you are detained and separated, prior to due process. Then you are held until a judge figures out what to do with you and several dozen other people at the same time.
This is being done deliberately to "deter" people from seeking asylum. Sessions got on TV a day ago and admitted it. Which is also illegal.
By the way, do you get to wear the same colour as the rest of the brownshirts, or do you need something higher contrast?
