Consider that response. What does it mean? Where does it come from?
"The liberal tears in this thread are delicious."
That is how Republicans approach everything. When you consider it like that, the whole Donald Trump presidency makes sense. It simply is not about policies, principles, morals, matters of conscience, etc. It is about laughing at liberals, mocking them, describing them as weak, spoiled, unemployed, worthless, un-American, etc. Donald Trump does all those things, and while he does that, the Republican Party uses every tactic, no matter how grave, to win. What are they winning, you ask? The answer is right in front of you, thanks to phoshide.
Nuke the senate? Refuse to vote on judges? Allow countless liars, some of which didn't have a security clearance for months at a time, access to the highest classified information in the government? Gerrymander? Intern kids in order to put pressure on crying liberals to build a wall? Endorse pedophiles and Nazis? There are no depths that Republicans will not visit in order to win, and since all they really want is to preserve their own prestige and power, it works. They get both.
Now, it is important to note that this is group behaviour, and that it doesn't always reflect on an individual Republican. Surely there is common ground, yes? Well, that depends what you mean. You imagine there is common policy ground, which is true. But what you aren't taking into account is what I've mentioned above: for Republicans, it is not about policy or conviction. It is only about winning. Drinking those liberal tears.
If you think it is wise to "compromise" with a party like that, I don't really know what to tell you.
