Conservatives are statistically the most government dependent group. They are also the group that has been conditioned to believe in things like "fake news", and are so easily manipulated, so easily shepherded, they are now actually cheering along as core American values and institutions are being torched. Conservatives are the ones believing what the government tells them to.
Basically, Nero has bullshitted the Romans into cheering along with his fiddle while Rome burns.
(Yes, Galt. I know the Nero thing is BS. It's just another turn of phrase to sail out over Spacemonkey's head.)
