The Boy Scouts are a great organization, when they aren't busy emulating the Catholic Church. And while it is simple work, it is also important. To the topic, one thing I hate about the drive for sustainability is the checklist bureaucracy that surrounds it. I’m LEED AP certified and the credit system has become such bullshit and PR nonsense. Doing a LEED Platinum building right now and the shit I get credit for......

Kind of dumb, but it’s part of my profession. I’d go so much more aggressive if it wasn’t under the umbrella of this credit system.

Organic certification... lmao. It's such a joke. At one point my parents were seriously considering switching over to hydroponic greenhouses. They are very efficient, relatively easy to do, and they cut down on quite a bit of mindless manual labour.

But guess what?

It isn't considered organic. Not because you have to use chemicals - you don't - but because it isn't grown in soil.

here? they can be limited in multiple ways, mainly by growing meat in labs. this would reduce the global head of cattle significantly, even if most of it was just replacing ground beef. this also reduces energy demand and vastly reduces land and water needs

in india we'd need to grow milk as they view the cow as sacred and don't eat them but do drink the milk. the thing about milking cows is that here we kill the young to make veal and cheese (need rennet from their stomachs) and to keep the cows milking, but there the cows just multiply. people just let them go if they aren't producing milk causing millions of cows to be roaming about
