corporations are trying to make money, and in doing so, they repeatedly placate dictatorships -- namely china -- in order to sell their product there. this ends up with corporations, such as those who run hollywood, to do things that are not anti-chinese
the Houston Rockets have had businesses suspend ties with them because the GM expressed support for Hong Kongers. if the NBA had a shed of decency they would tweet the image of Tank Man standing against Chinese oppression. But they won't. no, they ended up saying that the GM's views aren't the NBA's. politicans from left and right condemned them, but they don't give a shit, they just care about $$$$
how do we combat this? i think the only way to do it would be to forbid american companies from doing business with countries that suppress free speech. short term the consequences for american companies would be pretty dire and so no one would do it, but long term? long term i think it would be stronger than ever and would do more towards helping chinese citizens become free
china is literally harvesting organs from minorities https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/chin ... s-n1018646 they are a hostile, evil empire and should be treated as such. if it takes Cold War II to take them down, so be it. economically we should be isolating them, as opening trade with them has done nothing but strengthen the chinese state
Ich bin ein Hong Konger
