Is it common for people to have cameras in their homes, in the US? Outside of a few "estates" I've been on, where there are multiple structures that require monitoring from vandals or thieves, I've never seen that before.

I should probably consider getting one, my wife does order alot of shit online that gets dropped off out front, but so far we haven't had any problems.

Anyways, smart homes and appliances freak me out. Not happening here. The only problem is that we need to replace our appliances soon, and it is getting damned near impossible to find an attractive fridge that doesn't come preinstalled with, I dunno, f**k Facebook or something.

most of the time cameras in the house is because of monitoring babies/baby sisters

you don't need to have a smart speaker or whatever. I assume the voice recognition by google is what freaks you out rather than stuff like IFTTT in general. you can control the lighting from your phone, luddite. but you can also like, i dunno, make a shitpost every time you shit

Ok I got it working. Installed two sets of three way switches and managed to get them crammed into the 2 gang boxes and the faceplate on properly. Electrocuted myself by mistake, so that was neat. For some reason the wires in my house all appear to be colour coded, but those colours have absolutely no meaning because the live wire and ground are consistently a different colour in different boxes. The neutrals are capped off so I know those, but the rest I have to test. Anyway, I got it sorted so now as long as I can find a way to squeeze 3 outlets into a 3 gang box. lmao at you soft palmed pussies who can't even do your own electrical work.

ok things were humming along but one of the three way switches has an extra wire?! One wire is hot, one wire is red and is hot when the switch is on and otherwise not, two other black wires I assume a travellers, and ground and neutral. WTF why all these god damn wires for a switch. even worse this is the 3rd floor so I have to climb up and down three flights of stairs to flip the breaker and test thing. f**k YOU GALT
