If I'm the GOP why punt on more stimulus with an election in November? Get it out now and if there's inflation the Fed can handle it by raising rates. Plus we're seeing increases in hospitalizations again - for obvious reasons. If we have to shut down again the GOP is going to look like a bunch of dumbasses potentially even to their base.

BLS released CPI data - first time in series history with three consecutive months of falling CPI minus food and energy. Fed to release projections for economy today - could be very ugly.

But let's punt on further stimulus. Gotta see how the data turns out. And we don't want to unnecessarily invest in our infrastructure.

You have to consider the "I don't give a shit" factor and the "Its fake!" factor. Both extremely widespread. Look around out there. People drinking at the bars, eating at the restaurants, and swapping DNA at the beach. Back to the usual shitty traffic around here. Was nice for a while...so many fewer cars on the road you could just skate around town. But I sat on the freeway nearly an hour this morning.

I think enough people are done giving a shit. Business as usual...though the hospitality industry will be f**k for a while.

If there's a second outbreak...how many people are just going to shrug their shoulders, wash their hands, and power through it? Mnuchin is probably right. Can't shut down again.

With rates going up and our relatively smaller capacity at hospitals for intensive care this will start to happen in the coming weeks. As fear has started to grip the markets reality will crash down on those thinking it too can be ignored.
