Not at all a surprising development in the face of hyper partisanship as well as conservative policies being enacted by obviating "norms" that were observed for the last 100 years or so. The left didn't get here on its own - it's a reaction to a concerted effort by the GOP to subvert all normal processes in pursuit of their own objectives. Not a defense but simply an acknowledgement that unless changed the path we're currently on leads to ruin.

He plainly was simply pointing out that this is a duality. it's pretty much common sense that something like Trump is always going to create a reaction in the other direction. All our values, principles, and institutions as Americans have been attacked by you people. Did you really think there was not going to be any push back to this? Did you think patriotism was dead?

And nobody's saying this is a partisan issue. It's a left-right issue. The parties are not that cleanly cut. A huge swath of Democrats are actually conservatives, and a huge swath of Republicans are actually liberals. However, since the Republicans don't seem to know what liberalism is, they probably have no idea of this.

Trump is a catalyst. he supercharges the far left in the same way he supercharges white nationalists.

And there is a big difference between actual jackboot authoritarianism, and a bunch of bleeding-hearts screaming their heads off. People getting whiny and pissy is just people getting whiny and pissy. but when a whole bunch of completely unidentifiable, unmarked, no badge, no insignia riot control troops show up in DC and nobody knows who the f**k they are where they came from that's some real-world shit to be concerned about.

Something else to be concerned about is people like you whining about the media reporting on these things. You seem notably quiet when the status quo is maintained...but when it actually gets reported on? When people start finding out about it? Well it's fake news. It's just too damned inconvenient to the narrative. All fake. Call it conspiracy. THAT is something to be concerned about... This complete terror at the Free Press doing its thing. The free dissemination of information shouldn't be regarded as some sort of an existential threat. it says much that you people are all this concerned about what people talk about what people think what people know. the Free press is the very first thing every authoritarian regime goes after. Every fascist tin pot is most terrified of the press. And that tells us that above all else that the press must be free.
