Oh the storm's a comin. The US economy has largely been able to avoid fallout from our political dysfunction for the last decade or so because Americans are productive and industrious. But that's borrowed time.

Eventually it catches up. I'm not sure if the collapse will be slow or fast (probably slow and then all at once), but it's pretty apparent that absent a truly seismic shift the US is headed down an extremely dark path.

Between my wife and me we have citizenship in 3 countries and access to dozens of others (EU). Getting out of this shithole as soon as my parents pass or I convince them to come with us.

Unless something gives I don't see September numbers improving much. On the hiring front the census will diminish the numbers further. And Trump's moratorium on evictions only lasts through the end of the year and also doesn't offer any support to landlords. So if they don't get paid...how do the landlords keep the property?

Just an absolute shitshow. And it's primarily because the GOP doesn't want to give the blue states money for their state governments. Just absolutely atrocious.
