You're looking at a guy that works in the yay area and has direct reports that break down into tears when they're faced with a difficult/challenging task. Trust me - I know what you're talking about.

However - I think the Dems know that infrastructure is a must. Either through reconciliation or filibuster reform. It's going to happen.

Lol...Kane, the consensus coming from Biden and Manchin is to keep the 60 vote filibuster in place but MAYBE require a return to the actual talking filibuster where continuous long-winded speeches must be given from the floor in order to obstruct. Maybe this makes sense if you premise it on the belief that Republican Senators would be ashamed at the prospect of standing on the floor and giving hours-long speeches in service of blocking voting rights, minimum wage, etc. But we KNOW they won't be ashamed of it. They don't care and guess what -- when the obstruction continues, it will still be the Democrats who get blamed cause they chose this as their reform while they had full control of Congress so if nothing gets done it is ultimately still their fault.

Once the GOP decides to obstruct endlessly they will pass the legislation whatever way they can. His team isn't going to wait on the GOP - Dems can't afford it and they know it.

If Joe Manchin wants to die on this hill so be it. I guess there are still idiotic f**k democrats that think the republicans are honest brokers with good intentions.

He might as well switch parties at this point and get it over with. He's clearly more concerned with his own seat.

Joe Manchin's legacy:

- ensured a smaller infrastructure package to satiate the now misguided notion of "bipartisanship"
- ensured a less robust recovery (sure would be nice to have a very large infrastructure project up and running by 2023 that would drive future growth and raise economic output further - which would also work to reduce debt/gdp by encouraging stronger economic growth)
- ensured the GOP can take back the House and the Senate in the midterms
- increased the likelihood that Trump will run and win in 2024

etc etc etc

Just can't fathom what this guy is thinking given ALL that has happened over the last four years. Oh yeah, let's try some f**k bipartisanship now.
