LMAO literally been having a field day watching Macron throw a tantrum about the new AUKUS. Anyway, Biden might not be an absolute idiot with dementia after all, seems to know where the priority lies and is making moves in Asia. Wannabe Euro powers like France once again humiliated as it becomes clear they are geopolitically impotent and literally no one takes them seriously from a strategic or security perspective.

Anyway, very very good deal for USA here. You can see it forming, AUKUS + India and Japan and we have got a real f**k alliance on our hands. America isn't done here yet!

Honestly at this point I don't know what France thinks they're owed by the US. They've been gleefully shitting on us and undermining us for decades.

Well its pretty humiliating for France and kind of reinforces the point they have been making to the rest of the EU about strategic autonomy for a long time. This wasn't about the subs although France was screwing them up, just a very public statement from Australia about an alliance with France being basically useless if you have real concerns (like China). Plus the $40 billion and I think Macron has an election soon.

Not sure what the f**k the brits are doing though. What strategic interest to they have in the region? As an American I'm flattered, but knowing the brits I think they just wanted to f**k with Macron/France and show they still have friends after the whole brexit thing. Biden still gonna nix them on the trade deal though lol although if the Brits could work themselves and the Biden admin into TTP, they would have their trade deal and America would be really be making moves in the right places. Biden still thinking short term politics though.

I'm not convinced Nord Stream 2 is a big deal - short term yes but it looks more to me like a calculated move on Germany's part. They agree to import more now while they continue to diversify their economy and Russia stays mired in the past (commodity exports). LNG from US ports was more expensive than Russian exports and the infrastructure is already there. Plus it's "greener" than relying on a vast network of LNG shipping container ships - given the state of supply chains right now you can't argue it'd be more efficient either.

EU is in a tough spot and they have to negotiate with who they can when they can. If China doesn't buy German exports....who will pick up the slack? Not like US companies aren't still utilizing China for manufacturing or have cut off ties. Decoupling is a process. EU and US would be best served by getting India to reform and address inequality - it can be the new destination for US/EU MNCs if it can get its act together and supplant China (Has less headwinds on the aging demographic front as well).

I think AUKUS works to start this process. India's continuing engagement with the Quad is also encouraging. Biden/US needs to join CPTPP - China is now attempting to join (showing that it's both concerned about its growing clout and trolling everybody in the process).
