How long realistically can Russia keep up these operations? Weeks? Months? I don't think it's months.

The invasion has yet to meet what could be called strategic objectives. Sure, they are maniacs and took Chernobyl but Ukrainians have repeatedly held airports and other strategic locations. If half of what Ukrainians claim is true for what they've inflicted on Russia, Russia is already bearing the total cost in blood by all allied forces in Afghanistan

Zelensky is a leader. If he survived this he's going to be up there with Churchill

Really interesting that Kazakhstan is denying Putin Khazakh troops... And also declining to recognize luhansk and danetsk as independent.

If ever there was somewhere that could be even more in Putin's back pocket than Syria it's Kazakhstan.

Russia has only mobilized half of the forces in the region. The initial invasion was a quarter of all forces massed - I imagine they're probing to see what level of involvement they need to win the war in order to reduce cost or they're simply hesitant due to unknown force strength (Kinda odd - you figure they'd have their own intelligence on these matters but *shrug). It's all weird.

Germany is now sending weapons to Ukraine.

I mean it's the right thing to do and shouldn't have taken this long. Jesus Germany.

Also - Macron has been great through all of this. He has done the right stuff, supported Ukraine, urged and mediated diplomacy, and supports removing Russia from SWIFT even though it could have negative ramifications for France's economy (admittedly less so due to their intelligent reliance on nuclear power).

If it's only "certain Russian banks" couldn't the blacklisted banks just transfer funds to their domestic peers that aren't blacklisted? In order for this to be effective I think it needs to cover the entire financial industry in Russia - at least we're moving towards that.
