That 155mm gun is kinda interesting, though. Serious rate of fire.
I'm thinking of the Zumwalt as a technological test bed more than a warship that we've got a real need for. Gotta bear in mind, though, this was originally going to be a 30-ship class.

Sorry, the USN needs more ships? Pretty confident you guys have about twice as many ships as the next largest fleet in the world and then some.
Last I checked the Royal Navy had fewer than 50 warships. This sounds like the sort of thing we should be building. Fewer men needed to operate means we can have more, without increasing the number of sailors.
Not that the RN is likely to get any new toys in the near future though. Bloody politicians.

You guys have a lot of holdings overseas? Need to defend your land from invasion by sea?
We need a larger navy to defend the overseas territories for which we do still have responsibility, and to shoulder our fair share of the burden of international actions. We shouldn't expect the US to do everything for us.
