The US government are perfectly within their rights to object to somebody publishing stolen classified documents, whether they have any legal avenue to do anything about the publisher is another matter. They have gone after wikileaks by pressuring companies linked to them and by seeing if they can come up with a legal case against them - I haven't noticed the rest of the people linked to wikileaks being arrested, kidnapped, killed, or whatever it is people think the US are doing.
All this 'secret black ops' and 'honey traps' stuff is just being fed out by Assange because he knows that there is a section of society who will believe it. Sweden are a particularly soft social democracy who view human rights as invioble, the idea that they would act as stooges for the Americans is absurd - Britain might have done that though, which makes the whole thing even more absurd.
Having sex with a sleeping woman is illegal in most countries - which is why Ecuador didn't get the full support from the OAS that they were expecting tonight - he should co-operate fully and the fact that he isn't makes it pretty obvious that he thinks he is guilty.
